Tips For Whiter, Brighter Teeth

Last updated 6 years ago

Everyone wants a bright, white, beautiful smile. A gorgeous smile helps you exude confidence and makes you more approachable in social scenarios. Sometimes, even if you keep up with routines visits to the dentist, stains can occur on your teeth. Here are some tips for achieving a glistening smile.

  • The White Teeth Diet

What you eat and drink can have a major impact on your pearly whites. Red wine, coffee, cigarettes, cigars, dark soda, and dark juices can all stain your teeth. To avoid any discoloration after consuming these foods and drinks, follow each meal by brushing with whitening toothpaste. “Crunchy” foods such as apples, carrots, celery help to create saliva, which can minimize the formation of stains. Eating strawberries is also a great, natural way to whiten teeth.

  • Proper Brushing and Flossing

For healthy and white teeth, it’s important that you use proper brushing and flossing techniques. Also, change your toothbrush every two to three months to ensure continued effectiveness. Remember to clean your tongue when brushing to avoid bad bacteria that causes halitosis and discoloration of your teeth.

  • Gargling

In the morning, brush and floss as usual. Afterwards, gargle with apple cider vinegar to help whiten teeth and kill bacteria.

  • Antibiotics

Some medications cause yellowing. Before you take certain medicines, speak with your doctor and dentist to see if there’s anything you can do to take the requisite medication without staining teeth.

Before you try any at-home whitening methods, you should always consult with your dentist. There are other treatments, such as porcelain veneers and Zoom! whitening, that can transform your smile entirely. Your dentist will advise you on the best treatment to whiten your teeth.
