Understanding Dental Sedation: Oral Sedation At The Dentist

Last updated 6 years ago

If you’re generally afraid of dental visits, then oral sedation may be the right choice for you. Additionally, if you have a lot of dental work that you’d like to have completed in one visit, then oral sedation is an excellent choice.

Oral sedation involves taking medication about 45 minutes before your dental visit. The medication is designed to put you into a deeper sleep than nitrous oxide and keep you asleep for a longer period of time. Occasionally patients will be orally sedated and also use nitrous oxide for the maximum level of comfort.
